Grade school children across Vermilion County were invited to draw their depiction of “What farming means to me” as part of Vermilion County Farm Bureau’s Centennial celebration. Children were asked to design a poster to promote the many ways farmers provide food and fiber while being good stewards of the land.
“Ag in the Classroom has been a big part of the last 25 years of Vermilion County Farm Bureau,” said Susie Willard, Ag Literacy Coordinator. “We wanted to get the kids involved in our 100th anniversary activities.”
The Farm Bureau’s Young Leaders Committee helped select the winning entries.
Cash prizes were awarded to the winners and honorable mentions in three grade levels: 1st & 2nd grades, 3rd & 4th grades, and 5th & 6th grades.
